We are looking for a builder to build the city for our upcoming game: Bloxell: Origins. The city is a modern city, and the builder will need to build in varying styles for different areas of the city, with nicer downtown areas and much poorer neighborhoods.
Our game needs a playable portion of the city completed by April. This should include a few neighborhoods and a shopping area. We already have a layout planned out for the city.
Payment
We are willing to negotiate a deal directly proportional to the game’s total revenue. A Robux compensation of 5k-10k will be given if the game fails to make at least that amount, and depending on how much of the city is complete.

I’m saying “GTA Style” as in that kind of “genre” of game, not directly ripping GTA assets (the Binco in the screenshot is an exception, and will probably not be added to Bloxell: Origins.)
Gore is actually allowed on the platform, and typically developers will leave toggles for it to be turned on or off, the only platform you can not have gore on is xbox, clearly seen when you go to activate xbox use.
And “gang” related content is allowed without the use of directly mentioning gangs. Such as “squads” could be considered a different term for gang. You can see many games also use gore such as Phantom Forces, Gladiator, and some other zombie games that didn’t take the cartoon style route.
The game allows players to join either criminal or legal factions. Although some in game groups share similar styles to real-world gangs or mafias, they’ve had all of their activity scaled down to be PG (or PG-13 depending on how you see cartoony murders)
What do you consider “within reason”? The fact that you’ve dodged providing a concrete value twice is concerning, once in the OP and a second in this response. How much does your game even make and what values are you offering to builders? What compensation are you offering for high-level builds with revenue that falls flat? You need to provide actual values to work from, otherwise this offer is fairly moot.
Why are you determining this after you see someone’s work? This is the third time you’ve dodged providing values to work from and that is not okay at all.
In a recruitment thread, you are supposed to present your request, state your expectations and clarify the reward for work. “I will determine how much you get when I see your work” is not at all reassuring to pursue this job offer. I don’t know how much your game even makes and if I take this offer while you have poor revenue, I could be getting low pay for spending long hours on detailed builds.
You still have not addressed the area of compensation if your game potentially flops either, which is doubly concerning.
Please see other building recruitment threads to get a sense of what they should look like. A lot of them include approximate, negotiable values and compensation for potential failures.
Because I’m paying based off of the quality of the build and I’m open to negotiation. I want to talk to whoever I’m hiring first and see some samples of past work before I decide how much I pay, and find a deal with that builder that both of us can determine as reasonable. Nobody will be working for a pay that they aren’t comfortable with.
Paying based on quality is completely fine, I re-read my post and the wording did not match my intention. But you are still not stating anything about your game’s revenue or compensation. The point of a recruitment thread is to entice. A recruitment request without payment or anything promising attached is not enticing at all.
You need to offer some form of upfront payment, because the developers would be working for nothing if the game they worked on ended up not being successful enough for them to break even with the amount of hours it would take to create a map of that size.
This is not a small project and would really eat away the time of developers.
