There is no detail whatsoever about the work that’s expected from said programmer. You’d best add that to give people any idea what they would be doing.
Hi, thanks for your response. I’m not comfortable posting details of my game here. It’s not a big game, and I would be happy to chat via DM if you have any questions.
The task set for the programmer is the bare minimum. Nothing classified about what type of systems, and without that there’s no information at all to work with.
Can you elaborate on this? Are you paying (commensurate) equal to the person’s experience in addition to a percentage of profits? How much would that be, ideally? What is the percentage offered?
Are you also able to provide the names of the rest of the team (unless it’s just the two of you?), and what roles you will be covering during the development process? And what’s your schedule for said development process. Is this a quick three month thing or would the person need to invest a year or more before seeing anything?
I don’t know if I am interested in the project or not. There weren’t any details supplied about it, besides it having a unique formula. What is the project?
Hi Aotrou, This is not a lengthy project, probably 4 weeks at best. I would love to talk to you more about this. I would be happy to provide you with names of our entire team. I realize that’s a very important component when deciding to take a job. Would you mind if we chatted in Dms?
This category is accessible by members only so you’re game idea will not be thrown to the public. Exposing your game idea, even if it is genius, isn’t much of a risk on Roblox anyway as everything depends on the execution. It’s still a risk, but a small one, and most full members I know are fairly honorable when it comes to this stuff.
Think about the difference between game idea and execution. Jailbreak could be described like all those other prison roleplay games, but the prime differencs between them is that Jailbreak was just executed wayyyy better.
And good execution is why you actually want to be open. You lose out on good people when you provide so little information about your game and about what the programmers will be doing (the latter can be stated without exposing your game idea, too, so that’s not excuse). The moment I saw that 1. You didn’t provide an actual number for payment and 2. You didn’t provide information about what I’d be doing, I instantly knew that this post wasn’t worth and would’ve ignored it if I didn’t scroll down to see the replies out of curiosity.
That’s what goes through the head of most experienced people looking for work – they don’t want their time wastes by amateurs, which is a very real issue when it comes to doing freelance work on Roblox. I’m not saying it’s bad, but if you want the good… you’ll need to avoid the stuff that isn’t worth it.
All this means is that you lost out on a UI designer and scripter with 6 years of experience (not trying to flaunt, just stating the facts – been doing this since 2012 with lots of learning but little motivation to finish projects lol), and could lose out other people with similar experience and expertise. That could make or break your project, as like I said, you want it to be executed the best way possible as that’s what really matters in games.
Anyway this is bit of an overboard response but you get the idea. The recruitment category isn’t a troll category that people inhabit to steal game ideas
Hi Emerald, I appreciate you taking the time to respond. My vagueness has nothing to do with protection of my game being stolen, it’s something far more serious than that. I’m allowed anonymity, even if it goes against what you think is normal. I already have a talented UI designer and tonight I hired a skilled programmer.
Regardless, I do thank you for your time. This was my very first post here, and the feedback was very helpful.
