Hello everyone, I am Ben3657 I am also the founder of Moonlight Castle Productions who is developing the demo for Horizon Highway. As you may know I have been working on a demo for a racing game titled Horizon Highway. For those who want to know about the game, it is going to be based on/inspired by the racing video game franchise Burnout. The game will take place on closed tracks with traffic to avoid but rival racers to knock out. The only way to win is to drive like a maniac as the game will reward risk taking during game events and getting Knockouts on rival racers. The demo will feature 2 events on the Downtown Riverdale & Valley Island tracks which are both set in the USA & Asia individually. In both events players will be locked to 1 car that being a Blue & Orange Modified US Muscle car (Island Valley Race) & a White stock Coupe (Downtown Riverdale Road Fury).
Even though I am doing the demo as of now, the full version of the game will begin development as soon as I complete some documentation for the game and will include so much more such as more tracks, game modes, 5 vehicle classes, open world driving, 82 carnage filled events to race and crash across the USA, Europe & Asia & 8 player multiplayer with 3 game modes.
Events
Island Valley Race. 3 Laps. Event criteria: Finish in top 3 to earn a medal. Traffic Density: Medium.
Downtown Riverdale Road Fury. No time limit but vehicle will have a health bar. Event criteria: Gold: 11 KOs, Silver: 5 KOs, Bronze: 3 KOs. Traffic Density: High.
Below are a couple of screenshots of the game with the UI which is still a WIP. I have also included a screenshot of the title screen environment after updating the lighting.
I have been working on this since around last week even though I originally started making a game like this last year. This is a game idea that I’ve wanted to try and bring to life for the past few years.
Anyways, that’s all I will talk about so let me know what you think as I am still working to get the demo ready for launch even though I still need to do the scripting/AI racer cars & traffic. I am planning on releasing the demo on PC & Xbox once development of the demo is done.
Thank you. I know it’s something I’ve wanted to make/tried to make in the past but I feel like that I think that the game has a lot of potential considering I want to try and make something inspired by one of my favourite racing game series. I’m doing the best I can to try and make so that it’ll be worth playing when the game launches.
Thank you. I look forward to releasing the demo of the game soon. I think whilst making this game as a solo developer is huge achievement with how far development of the game has come I do think it’ll be worth it especially since the challenge of racing and fighting through traffic will bring back a lot of memories of a particular racing game series. I am doing my best to get the demo of the game ready for launch so that I can start working on the full version of the game.
Quick update: I regret to inform everyone that the demo will not be releasing due to too many issues with development preventing the completion and release of the demo. The game’s development will be postponed indefinitely but it is also likely that making this game is not feasible on the platform. This will also be the case with a couple of other games.
Sad to see the game not being able to be mad but you came far with the game and it really did look great. I can’t wait to see what other games you are going to be making. I know they will be great.
Looks great! The buildings give me PS2 vibes Also i’d recommend launching more cars to give users so freedom of choice in the final version, even if it’s purely cosmetic and doesn’t give a performance boost. Progression of some kind is a great way to get users coming back
I know it’s a shame I never got the demo finished and released but I’d loved to have released a demo of something close to a Burnout game. I know that I did have some other games that I wanted to make but it is likely that they will never be made on this platform as I’m no longer going to be making games on the platform but I do feel like if I had ever finished them demo it’d provided something completely different to the platform. I was thinking about adding Australia to the game but scrapped the idea before development began. I am hoping to return to the idea of this and a couple of other games in the future but it’s likely it won’t be on Roblox but a completely different game engine.
Thank you but unfortunately, I have no plans to continue development of the demo as I am ceasing development of it indefinitely meaning that I plan on returning to the idea of the game in the future but I also plan on reworking the whole concept of the game but keeping things such as closed track events with traffic and open world gameplay. I’m going do the same with a couple of other game ideas but it is likely that they will never be made on Roblox as I am no longer going to be making any games on the Roblox platform as I have permanently retired from Roblox related game development.
