Horror game lighting

Hey developers, really early into a new game I’m working on and I’m trying to get a theme going of the old grainy and low quality looks from older games from the PS3.

I’ve only started development on my map so far, but I’ve mostly struggled with lighting beyond this point, so I wanted to try and get this out the way as one of the first problems from development.

I’ve currently only started with the regular Roblox lighting and technology set to compatibility.

Any tips of things that should be altered or added the lighting for an old low quality style of game lighting would be greatly appreciated. (:

Well I would start off by making the lighting to Future, for the shadow effects on lights.

And then add ColorCorrection and try to copy these settings, I’m not sure if this looks like a ps3 game. I just looked at some ps3 games and tried to copy the way they look.

Unlike the reply above one of my recent post talks about emotions and atmosphere. I would recommend checking it out for more information on horror game’s lighting/atmosphere.

I don’t have any suggestions that lighting would look good for you but there is a good plugin called “Atoms” where it has all sorts of lighting.

I hope I helped.

I would do this:
Fog end = 150 or lower

Lighting ambient to black

Technology to FIB3

also just play around w lighting to see what you can get, horror means dark so try to avoid using lighter colours. Hint: Red and Black
