Horror Game Main Menu and Sound Design

How do yall think about this?
I’ll take any feedback (the transition from loading to the main menu was from editing)

And, its meant to be more calming not tense

background music is unsuiting, the environment isn’t grimy and dirty enough, and outside sounds should sound more muffled, make the title at the top smaller

i mean, the environment is someone’s house. I don’t think it should be dirty at all. But, sure ill try to make the sounds more muffled and the title smaller

it looks too artificial, even for someone’s house

hmm ok so what would you suggest I should add to make it feel less artificial?

imperfections, better materials (consider material packs from the toolbox)

It feels like there are so much on the right side, and so little on the left. Maybe have the Settings option on the bed or more on the right side of the screen?

you should add a entity in 5 different spot which appears and dissapears when player points flashlight at it
Add a lighting rarely with a lighting sound
add muffed footsteps somewhere (youre not alone)
make the music slower and more distorted but not annoying (click on + near sound with music and pick effects and mess with them)
You should make the house more detailed

Alright, so you got great reviews and feedback here, that I thought I might want to add some or expand on the ideas of some of the developers below.

Firstly, your game is great but I wouldn’t know it was a horror game at the start.

I agree with this, but I don’t agree with making the lightning sound more muffled, I want it to be striking because it is supposed to be scary. Everything else should be muffled. The music choice is not horror-like at all and does not make the player feel unsettled, or feel like something is wrong.

This area looks like it has been cut off, and that adds to the artificial sense that the room has, and as I saw above; you claim someone is living there.

So, if someone is indeed living there, who is it? The player appears to be on top of the bunk bed, so what is going on? There should be two desks or two shelves. The place looks more like a hotel room. Do you need to put yourself in the shoes of someone who is living there? What are the basics? A trash can, shelf, closets? Also, add a bit of personality to the room, how old is the person living there? So, add posters, pictures, books, more plants. Put yourself in the shoes of the character, what would you do if this is your room?
Nice addition to decoration, but adds something that can compliment the character more too.

Of course, the character might feel trapped, or constricted to their ability to decorate, for example, if they are in a boarding school. But, it would help if you let the room showcase the character’s personality and build more lore.

Also, disable chat if it is single-player only.

I also agree with this comment above, you should change the direction of the UI.
So I edited a bit and rearranged it on what is more possible to do, and this is how the UI might look like if you adjust a few things. Now it looks more appealing according to the rule of thirds:

I made a quick edit that can show you that adding details, can make a difference. Of course, this is just something quick, and you must make it follow the game lore, and the character but this is just a quick example.

Also, gorigonewneme’s advice is amazing, it adds more depth and ambiance to the horror genre!

Anyway, good luck with your game. It looks promising!

changed some things (might just remove and replace the radiator, stands out weirdly)
the walls looking like its going to oblivion is a lighting issue from roblox, i dont see many fixes for now other than changing how the flashlight works…
