Horror Showcase: Subway Station

Hello! For the last three or so days, I’ve been building up a subway station that I hope to then convert into its horror and rundown counterpart. I haven’t added too much detail or furnishes to the actual subway station as of yet, since I’d like to get a little bit more work done on the overall structure of the station and some feedback before I move any further.

Here’s some photos of the showcase so far, please let me know what I should add, remove, or change:

Most traditional subway stations have tiled walls/floors. Other than that, I think this has great potential.

Hey, thanks for the intel! I’ll see what I can find that will get that extra realistic effect to what a subway station would look like in the real world.

Try adding a booth. In New York City usually there is a booth where you can purchase a metro card and ask for directions or any other questions.

Also, texturing would make it look really realistic and maybe add a train parked at the station

Yeah, I see where you are coming from, we have something like that over here where I live as well. I haven’t yet designed the entrance as much as the rest of the station but I’m hoping to implement elements of a booth like you’ve said around there.

Thanks, although I have a number of textures I can add to the station, I’m trying to sort through and find what would really give the station that glow, which is why you can only see 1 texture plastered along all the walls and floor, lol. The train I was thinking about implementing last, although knowing my luck, that wont work out well.

Just have to wait and see.

I agree the train should go in last but you will have to be careful. I would have done it so the train was the first thing done because that would be one of the hardest parts in my opinion

Hey, I understand where you are coming from in terms of you want to build everything around the train seeing as it is the main attraction (if I’m right?). I’ll have to figure out what fits and what doesn’t. Luckily enough, I haven’t added too much to the tunnel itself right now, so if anything goes down hill, I can always adjust the tunnels size or make it again.

At the same time it is kinda dumb to do the train first because what if it doesn’t fit the rest of the station

Would you say this texture looks slightly better?

All in all, this looks great! I believe that the texture and attention to detail so far look and come together amazingly. Keep up the great work on your subway station!

Thanks for the source. I enlarged the tiles to be slightly bigger. Was just wondering because I couldn’t decide whether I should use voxel or future. First is a picture of future, whilst the second is voxel.

I found that with future, the rest of the station is forced to become a bit darker, which takes away from that part. But the lighting works well with the tiles.

I think you should allow the player to choose, some people can handle future, some can’t. Optimization is good for your game, especially if the player can change it to their needs.

Hey, thanks for the feedback! When you compare it to what I was working on before, I think I’m making some improvement. This is a picture of what I worked on before.

You are 100% true about that, I am struggling with future enabled myself. I’m stuck to an old laptop at the moment, but hopefully I’ll get my PC back soon.

I do see some improvement! Both look absolutely amazing. The feedback is just me saying what I feel about the build! Good luck with your build.

Hey, I’m glad that you say that. I’m really trying to go above and beyond with this project. Hopefully you are still here to see it when it is published!
