How are these gun effects made?

I came across this video of a game being developed by @PoptartNoahh

It’s amazingly realistic , and i cant seem to wrap my head around how he’s doing this

They’re multiple meshes / parts , but how is he making those super realistic effects on his gun?

It looks like a good use of PBR/materials and particle effects.

thats definitely not in Roblox right?lol
Cuz if it’s there I will be shocked

if its roblox then he is using beta features.

depth of field blur, PBR textures and maybe some particles but I don’t see those being necessary for the shadow outline around the gun though.

It is definitely Roblox alright.

You can see the 13+ label.

It is likely the mentioned materials and effects.

Of course it is, I’m guessing @helmie_gas1 was referring to that the particle effects or the PBR thingy.

Definitely Roblox Beta (or a private Alpha build)

This is not possible via the current build.

What made you say so? I don’t see why not. The GUIs, sounds, and weapon animations seems achievable.

Take a look at the graphics, the blur depth and the animated gradient (non linear) that can not be made with the current version of Rolox.

This must be a good use of the PBR system or another future build we do not know about.

Edit: If I’d have to guess the size of this team I will say more than 3 for sure.

“Roblox Beta” / “Private Builds” don’t exist (for non-employees, at least). There are, however, testable features that everyone can enable via the Studio Beta Features and FFlags including Depth of Field.

@UniversalScripter Honestly, if you want to learn more about specific effects that they’re using, shoot them a DM - I’m sure they’d be happy to talk to you

I’m not using PBR effects at all here. This is all functional in player other than the DOF

The animated gradient is just using numbersequence on transparency, I use a sine curve on its amplitude. I handle all the UI, modelling, scripting, animating, while my brother makes the maps(:

That’s nice! Keep up the good work and I just lost a bet

That’s nice, will you be using PBR textures for the game when it comes out though?

Probably not (but maybe). There’s other projects where i would want to do that but it kind goes against the overall style of this game

That’s really awesome , it just looks too realistic with all those particles and effects!

Great to hear that, a talented developer like you is capable on making games I don’t even know how to make…

I agree, I’m really inspired by him , i’ve been really unproductive , but after seeing this i’m all hyped up and started developing again

Thank you! If you wanna know the real “secret” to how the look is achieved without pbr, it’s just very very very careful choice of lighting and making sure every viewmodel has curves or shapes that aren’t just flat against the light

Ohhh , i see , it all makes sense now , thank you so much for responding (:
