How can I add dynamic foam to skinned mesh water?

Is there any way possible at the moment to dynamically add a foam effect to skinned meshes?

This is currently what I’m working with, and I’d like to be able to have the wave peaks be lighter than the rest of the ocean, and shorelines be foamy instead of a harsh transition line as shown below.

My goal is to have something similar to this, if possible.

Not as right now, Well the beach foam atleast. The Sea Splash is possible and you could use a texture for the foam.
