If I have nothing in my portfolio, no one will hire me for a project, I am OK at modeling, but I don’t know how to build up my portfolio.

Yes, but I also don’t know what really is acceptable to get hired; for example how many models, maps.

I’ve learned that quality matters more than quantity when making a portfolio. Try to create a good variation of things like maps, assets of different sizes, and different styles.
