How can I get better at modeling?

***I would like to get better at building. I look at other people who claim they are beginners and their creations look so good. How can I get better at building? How long would it take to become a decent builder? Do you have any building tips? I am eager to gain as much knowledge on building as possible. I hope to be a better builder some day.

Just keep on building, theres no one way to be better, it take creativity and resourcefulness well also understanding the tool youre using

Practice and patience are the keys, whether you want to get better at building, modeling, or anything else. The time it takes isn’t the same for everyone, so there’s no real answer to that question.

  • I would first suggest watching some videos on modeling in Blender or whichever modeling software you want to use. Learn the techniques you can use to improve the final results you want to have.
  • Try recreating some small scenes from your favorite games, movies, or even in real life. Or try to model some objects you enjoy looking at. Personally when I model something I enjoy looking at, I get some sort of boost of motivation.
  • Avoid going straight for large-scale or complicated projects/models, start with the easy things first to make the learning process easier and more fun.
  • Some people may find other developers as their source of motivation, but some other don’t. They instead feel demotivated because they didn’t achieve the same level of quality as the other developers did, so I’d suggest avoiding comparing yourself to the others.
  • Try different modeling styles, and practice more with the ones you find the best.

Those are a few things that helped me with improving my modeling skills. It can take a long time to become a decent modeler but I’m sure anyone would put enough time and effort into it if they really wanted to achieve their goals. Hope this helps!

Building is like drawing. You focus on line by line not the whole picture. You focus on each block and build. Don’t focus on the whole model. At the end the model will look good. Google image search things and build it in Roblox. That helped me out a lot in building. Don’t forget about scale. Get a roblox player model and build to that.

Search for random buildings on Google. Try to rebuild them on studio. That’s what I do as a solo developer.

If you can’t or don’t want to use Blender, you can try to get familiar with unions and negates and learning about different ways you can use certain shapes. You can also use plugins like Archemides and F3X.

Start by making a model of some furniture in your bedroom then make your bedroom and then your house. This will make it easier as you are seeing what you are making and also you will gain experience.
