How can I improve my artwork?

I haven’t been getting any commissions so I created a post on why it was happening. @Krunnie suggested that I get some help if needed. I want to know how I can improve all of my artwork and just overall improve my free-draw skills as they are not up to commissioning standards. I am on a really low budget so I tend to stick to pixlr to design my work. Here is my portfolio with all of my past work: [OPEN] Beginner Free-draw Artist - #4 by Iifebit

Questions:

What are some ways I can improve my skills?

What can I improve about my artworks?

How can I get my artworks to commission worthy?

Should I continue making artwork or should I just stick to programming?

Thanks for reading and thank you Krunnie for the feedback.

I’ll start by answering those questions above (and like Krunnie said, please don’t be offended by what I’m about to say):

  1. Learn the fundamentals of art (e.g., color theory, anatomy, etc.)
  2. Focus more on the details; try using different brushes and brush sizes!
  3. Practice! With practice comes experience
  4. Definitely continue making art!! Your work has potential

I’d also suggest exploring/experimenting more on what you like and dislike (in terms of art).

Goodluck :happy1:!

After the fundamentals, there are techniques to explore within each detail. Anatomically, for instance, you can apply cylinders to make arms and legs that are proportional.

You can improve by shading techniques as well on the current artwork, but that’s just artistical choices.

To be considered worth a commission, maybe you should try improving your drawing technique a little to accurately draw the lines?

For the fourth question, it doesn’t hurt to have multiple skills, Again, it’s up to you.
