Hi everyone,
Growing up on this platform, one of my biggest memories was “RoNation” communities, where players roleplay as government officials across various nations. I wanted to re-create that experience in a casual game format, and so I’m developing a political simulation game called Executive Orders.
Players can hold one of 9 offices, currently including the Presidency, as well as within the departments of State, Defense, and Treasury.
Each day, they discuss with their teammates (within their department, or with the President’s Cabinet) how the nation should address various Issues the nation is currently facing.
The position players take on each issue impacts their reputation with various Interest Groups, as well as “healthbar” stats for the entire country, such as the tax rate and military strength.
Every 4 in-game days, a new President is elected, depending on which player is the most popular.
At the moment, I feel like the game doesn’t have enough features/variation to make it interesting. In the future I’d like to add more features like a Congress that can pass laws, an achievement system where players earn badges for achieving certain conditions, and money to purchase character customizations…
But what I’d like feedback on is the core gameplay concept itself. Even with more features, the point of the game will always be:
Players make decisions, in which they balance political interests, the good of the country, and their own views on what is right - in order to position themselves to rise up in the ranks and eventually become President. Some of those decisions they make independently, and some require convincing other players through deals, alliances, or negotiation.
I would appreciate any feedback people can offer on that vision in general, as well as for some folks to test the game in its current state to see if they can provide any insight.
Ultimately I want to make a game that is fun to play. I think I’ve come up with a fun idea that hasn’t been done before on Roblox, but I want to know if other people will enjoy this concept, and if there is any way I can improve on it.
Thanks everyone. You can try it here:
