How can I improve my UI?

Hi!

This one is pretty random, but I’m always looking to improve on my UI skills.

Right now, this is the style I’m best in.

Dont really know what I would call it.

So basically, that’s the UI i make.

Some more from the game

An option to see all of my work is right here, but I wont push it in your face.

I primarily work with dark style UI, my colors is found in the example UI, at the bottom.

So, the point of this. Let me know how to improve!

Very attractive. However you can add UIGradient’s into the UI’s
Keep in mind that for the UIGradient’s to work the text or background needs to be completely white.
Borders can help out too.

The UI here is ok, but many things can be improved. I would recommend researching UI design and the rules around it.

Here is a video that helped me when understanding UI design, it is however longer than an hour: The 2019 UI Design Crash Course for Beginners - YouTube

Some text is hard to read. I would recommend not using bright text on bright colored buttons or backgrounds. An example of this is the light green box with white text at the bottom middle of the image you had in your post. Image of what I mean:

You can use a black outline on the text as an alternative to changing the colors, but that could take away from the style of text you want.

Also, if you are going for the dark UI theme, you should probably desaturate some of the colors. The whole point of dark UI is it not being too vibrant.

I would honestly rate it below 1, full criticism here,
It’s extremely congested, has bad user experience (UX), and I can’t even tell what’s going on (what are those coloured squares above the buttons at the bottom doing there?)

You need to work on colour choices, implementing text hierarchy, and the general padding of your elements.

I completly agree with @epochzx here. The UI is really unclear, I can’t really tell what is what. The color choice isn’t the best also. Overally, it could be way better.

Replying to both here,
@imR_otax

(forgot to send this)

The bottom squares is all of the saved colors I have, I just thought I should put it there.

Also this is an example UI. All of my other UI isn’t anything like this, before saying stuff like that please just check my other UI out.

Probably should have added more there too, I mainly do the best with single frames.

The thing is, that we were both replying to the UI you showed us, and not the other ones you’ve made. And no idea what about @epochzx, but I did see your other UIs, and that didn’t change what I had to say.
Cheers.

@pyxfluff After play testing that game, I can say that the criticism I gave you still hasn’t changed. I’d recommend taking into account what I originally told you.

For giving an example:

I really don’t get what is going on here. Why can I see 3 logos of your game here? What is the yellow text in the middle of screen for no reason? Version of the game? Why? There is alrady one in the bottom of the screen. What has the Shop section to do with the “background image” (of the shop button of course)? The only thing I understand here is pretty much only Play and Credits button. Besides that, why isn’t the UI scdaled properly?
I just gave you my feedback, so just what you asked for.

Just kind of replying to the criticism here at this point,

  1. The 3 logos:

The one to the left is there to be there.
The one at the top is just text, ignore it if you want.
The one in the credits screen is a placeholder.

  1. The yellow text:
If you played the game, you would know that it changes and beats the the music, and it will probably be changed to something else once 1.5.1b happens

  2. Again, a PLACEHOLDER, that probably wont be changed, because it looks good.

And 4, Scaling. It’s scaled right. Once again, if you played the game you would have seen, I took those screenshots in Studio.

Okay, I see the atmosphere in both mine and your replies and okay, you are right about some thing however, on your place I’d only keep 1 logo. And that’d be the one on the right side, because it’s the game icon too. But I mean, what is the sense of having the same text 3 times next to each other?
And you didn’t know, but I already checked your game before I replied. Still the scaling is maybe as intended but it looks off place.
Cheers

The shown account isn’t me… or anything related to me lol

The UI looks good, but I think you could maybe add less colors. Like the blue, it’s kinda too blue. I would make it light blue or something similar to that. Overall it looks great.

There’s a lot of stuff happening at once, the UI looks really nice, though.
Make it more flashy, add some gradients, borders etc!
Remove as much stuff as you can, there’s too much going on at once :grimacing:
Try making it a tad bit more organized! :+1:

Reviving this topic, this is some newer UI I made.

I would also like feedback on it.

It’s great, maybe try using a bolder font somewhere. Nice job.
