Slight variation to the height of the ground / ceiling so it’s not completely flat
Essentially, adding more variety and depth to the walls / ground / ceiling would make it feel more natural, and introducing plant-related elements could help create more of an organic atmosphere.
That’s all I can think of at the moment but I’ll reply again if I have any more ideas
Thank you for responding. When you say add more variety and depth, do you mean make the walls not completely smooth, like make it dip and bulge in areas?
Yup, because that would reduce the symmetrical, man-made uniformity of the space to help make it feel like it was created by the natural processes of nature
Add more curves and things to merge the seams of the bricks with one another, in an attempt to make it look not so flat. Add rocks, vines, maybe even some other textures ontop of what you already have.
Thank you all for your suggestions. There is something I realize I should have mentioned, and that is the fact the maze is gonna be changing itself automatically, so I can do things like vines and rocks, but for the walls it will probably be a repeating pattern.
Mesh walls. Normally tunnels have supports as well if 3D modeling isn’t your thing. I just recommend focusing on the walls, and changing the shape of the walls. Adding supports to keep the ceiling from collapsing. You can add lights, normal spaces have lots and lots of lights everywhere, so much that we don’t pay much attention to lights anymore.
Thank you for this suggestion. I have considered the 3D option, but considering the complexity of making something I would be proud of, it wouldn’t be worth it unless people actually play. I am experimenting with terrain generated with Roblox as an option for a pattern. As for lights, I am trying to keep it dark as part of the design of the game. I like the support idea though, thank you.
Thank you, I turned up brightness and changed the settings to make it easier to see while im working on it. The final version would be using fog to reduce the player’s vision while using a light to make the walls brighter. I like the suggestion to learn some lighting techniques though, thank you.
