How can I improve this build? (Lighting priority right now)

Reference

My creation

I am not going to use any decals as of yet since I want this to my own kind of design to it for a project, I just want to make the lighting match more of how it is in the reference but I’m not sure how to replicate it.

Hi vf9r!

What type of light do you currently have in the ceiling light? I recommend using a SpotLight.

One thing you could do is mess around with the lighting of your game. If you go to the Lighting category in your Explorer, go to the Appearance section, and then select the Technology section. Try using “Future” lighting and mess around with that to see the different lights you get. I attached a photo of the lighting category to show what I am talking about.

Let me know if this helps!

This recreation of Five Nights At Freddy’s looks good. You should add more posters and actually put a design on them if you want to make them look similar. Make the light actually shine make the room bright and light it up. Add some lights in the hallway too.

In addition to the above posts (though I would recommend using a SurfaceLight if you want a more accurate range, and don’t forget to turn on the SurfaceLight’s shadows), add texture to the walls.
If you don’t want to make any you can use the AI texture tool which is actually pretty good, or use Concrete or the pre-2022 Pebble for that wall texture. Also use a cobweb decal for under the desk.

Best of luck :+1:

All of the posters are in the same place as the original pic, but I want to keep them empty for now, I am going to add a special touch to this project instead

There was no light before as I wanted to make it as dark as possible, but it definitely creates good contrast. How do I make the outside area darker?

My possible solution:

Go to Lighting

  • Set the Time in workspace to 24:00:00

  • Set the Brightness to 0

If the above doesn’t solve the issue, maybe:

  • Set the Ambient Color to a black, or a dark blue for added lighting effect.

I did all of your instructions and it is still really bright and visible. Although it is a little bit darker in the main room.

Maybe enable Global Shadows if they aren’t?

Idk. I’m not currently at my PC right now. I’m just coming up with possible solutions from memory.

So, you are trying to make the light duller?

The light in the office is perfectly fine, global shadows is on, but I need the hallways to be darker so that you can barely see ANYTHING outside the door.

If the player is going to be in a fixed position, you can always use fog to darken the hallways.

You could use a Transparent Black Part, or Multiple Transparent black parts.
