Hello! I recently developed a story game called A Generic Story Game (AGSG). It’s basically just meant to be a funny version of an average story game. The game gets around 800-1000 daily active users, and maybe around 7-15 concurrent players at one time.
Problem
The problem I have here is that, the only way the game even gets plays, or even impressions is due to another game I had, which is this meme game called GRIMACE SHAKE SPEED RUN (GSSR), which is basically me cashing on a trending meme 7 months ago. Only recently it started gaining players again (50-90 concurrent). I’ve tried sponsoring AGSG for 12K/42 Ad credits for 5 days but it was very unsuccessful. I’m not sure if it is really worth sponsoring again or really advertising, it feels like such a gamble. I put a teleport in GSSR to send players to AGSG. This worked very well, and was even proving to be a dozen times more effective than my sponsor.
[AGSG plays after implementing GSSR teleport]
However, this made it so 95% of players join from teleports, and not through searches, home pages, etc. I feel this limits the game’s potential to grow or be shared around. When you search ‘A Generic Story Game’, it is likely to appear in the first 25 game. If you search ‘Story’, it’s just not going to appear. Players will rarely ever be visiting the game’s home page either. The Like/Dislike count is quite low compared to it’s visit count. (11 Likes/Dislikes to 13K visits).
My plan was for it to get enough visits and players from the teleports that it will naturally start appearing on searches for story games or recommended pages for players that play story games, but I’m not sure how effective that plan is.
I believe soon, the new trend of players in GSSR will die down, which will leave AGSG with a lot less players and a lot less room to grow. I feel like with the trend of players I have with GSSR right now I need to try capitalize on it as best as I can before it’s too late!
If anyone has any ideas, I would be more than happy to hear it!
