How can I make "Advanced" GFX

Heya!!
I’ve recently been wondering how I can make “advanced” GFX.
With advanced I mean stuff like flames, rain, reflections etc
A good example of that I mean is that thumbnail from the game “Tower Galactica”

Reflections can be seen on most of the Character’s heads, same with a “wet” effect. The lighting is also really good.

Does anyone know how I could do such things?

Anyone? I’d really appreciate it!

The image you have here is probably made in Blender or some other external software and not done in Roblox (hence the better lighting quality), but you could create similar effects as the ones you mentioned in studio.

For the flames you could probably just use a ParticleEmitter with a texture off the toolbox, for the reflections you could set the RoughnessMap property of the part’s MaterialVariant or SurfaceAppearance to a fully black or very dim colored image, the rain can probably be done externally in an image editing software assuming you’re using this for still images and not actual gameplay.

Yea I was intending to use blender. I’ve mainly been questing the work with after effects and such. Sorry if that wasn’t clear in the original post!

One of the best ways to immediately improve your GFX is to create interesting lighting and poses. Take inspiration from movies and real animations, because they have entire jobs based solely on lighting!

The pictures here use PBR materials, which can be created in Blender or you can find them for free online. Fire and rain can be created with Blender’s particle system, or you can try to photoshop it in. Unless you’re a Photoshop wizard, I recommend doing as much as possible in Blender because it can be tricky to blend the Photoshop elements with the rendered image.

Good luck!

Have you got any suggestions for these “PBR materials”?

So I’ve done some experimenting with lighting. How does that look and what could I improve?

Saw this a bit late but wanted to reply. Looks awesome! I think you did an amazing job with the lighting, looks very professional and the PBR materials look awesome! If you wanted to add, I think it would look cool if you added the sparks in Blender. I’d start with the particle emitter, and since it looks like you’re using Cycles, use compositor glare to add glow to the final render.

To answer your earlier question I use Polyhaven for PBR materials, but there are lots of free sources!

I’ll try that out.
Thanks again for the help!

Did you follow any tutorial on how you made your end result , that you can share ?

Hi!
No, I didn’t follow any tutorials. I looked at gfx from other games I considered good and tried to do the things they did. Later I just slapped on some fire png thingies and lens flare from google.

Social media has lots of resources - I know for one that graphics packs and “resource discord servers” have saved me years of making things myself and made things look 100x better

Doesnt even have to be a roblox related pack, as long as the assets are able to be used well (i use photoshop and those related PSD files for reference)
