How can I make this small build I’m working on look better?
I have only worked on the interior of one of the stores.
the trees dont match the build so make trees from parts and some textures dont match the look either
Make the sidewalk brick texture smaller, add exterior sidewalk lights (they can be light poles, or just small ones sticking out of the ground), maybe some flowerboxes under a few windows
The sidewalk is a bunch of parts not a texture
A PBR texture has the same effect and more customization.
Your maps look great so far! I have a few suggestions that could make it look even better
Like the others have said, I would also suggest changing the tree and change the brick floor texture. A concrete or bigger slabs would make it look way better.
I noticed your buildings, especially the arctyx building lack a bit of contrast, making it boring to look at. Perhaps you can darken the color of the pillars and the outer roof to the same color as the door.
Same with the interior, I would suggest adding some darker pillars and a streak within the walls. They could be the same color and texture as the wood planks. If you can model, you can even replace the over head lights with spotlights like this
I would also suggest randomizing the clothing hangers, you can delete half of the hangers and rotate some of them 5-25 degrees.
A general rule to follow when building interiors is to look for places to add outlines, margins, pillars and contrast while trying to not overdo it.
One tiny detail is ensuring wood grain ‘flows’ the right way, like in the window frames on the pharmacy.
Something I would recommend is, for interiors, add some form of framing or wall trim to further separate the floor from the walls. I would also add white borders to the dark wood in the ARCTYX to really make it pop.
Overall, really nice work, though!
1: The walls look empty. Put something to make it look better.
2: Put more plants and put lights outside.
Where could I find those?
