I made a cave in my adventure game which has a unique gimmick, All brick parts are white and grey and I shine light on them to give them color. Although it doesn’t look thhhaaaaattt bad, I dont feel like its on par with the previous section I built. How could I make the cave look more visually appealing?
Very good job, your game looks great. Some things you could do to improve them could include a change of textures - presently, it looks quite old-school. I’m not aware whether that’s the style you’re going for - if it is then keep doing what you’re doing. Another thing you could maybe do is include some form of detail for the water, if you check a lot of low-poly games you can see that they have a sort of foamy water effect, I recommend you do this, It’s going to add a lot of detail to your build. More details such as platforms on the sides of the cave which could hold things such as ores, just to get more of a colour theme could be pretty cool too.
I’m talking about this - it’s up to you personal preference whether you want to do it, however I think that the effect it creates on objects submerged is quite nice.
Great, a final thing you could do could potentially be to make it more of a slate greyish colour on the walls - pitch black is kind of confusing to navigate
You could add crystals around the walls, stalactite to the top and something sunken to the floor. Also you can make the cave brighter whick will make cave more living.
yes, the more detail and features you can put in your build, the more for the player’s eyes to look at and become interested in. Most players don’t want to play the boring game over the interesting game. You have to be careful not to overload it though because when there’s too much stuff it will overload your build complexity and will be too hard to focus on anything. You just have to practice and find that perfect balance. It looks good
