How can I monetize my retro-styled, fast-paced fighting game?

So I’ve been working on this game called Anarchists for a while now, and I’m thinking about how to monetize it. It’s a retro-styled, fast-paced fighting game where players earn money by killing others and collecting bounties. You can get weapons by ordering shipments in the Overview menu.

Right now, the gameplay loop is pretty simple:

  • Press G to open your overview menu
  • Press V to change firetype on certain guns
  • Press F to execute downed or ragdolled players with melees

I’m planning to add a “Player-Managed Economy” system in the future, but for now, it’s purely a fighting game.

I’m not sure how to approach monetization. Should I go for cosmetics? Maybe weapon skins or exclusive weapons?

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. I want to keep the game fun and fair while also making it profitable.

If you want to check out the game to get a better idea, I made a post about it a month ago for public testing. You can find more details there, or you can play via this link:

Ahhh I love monetizing, Here goes some tips:

Gamepasses
  • Special meelee
  • Some effects like a trail
  • VIP thing that gives the player a chat tag and their arrival is announced in the chat by the server
  • 1.5x Damage
Developer Products
  • Temporary Speed Boost
  • Temporary 2x damage
Premium Perks (to get premium payouts)
  • Premium tag in chat
  • Premium meelee
  • Premium gun
(Note: The player should be given the choice to choose between VIP perks or Premium perks)
(e.g. for above: They should be prompted if they want vip chat tag or premium chat tag)
If you have a currency system:
  • Add developer product for more currency
  • Add gamepass for 2x currency

Aaaalright. That’s it! Do this and your balance will soon be above 1M (I bet your game will be front paged)

Quick poll to see the opinion of other people: Which of these do you think I made it wrong and I should re-sketch?
  • Developer products
  • Gamepasses
  • Premium Perks
  • Extra if you have currency

That’s it

Unrelated, but you may want to somehow disable the execution feature of frosty dev console when the top bar is disabled:

I added two gamepasses and I’m working on some new developer products. View them and tell me what you think!

Cool!
But, I recommend shortening the VIP gamepass name to only “VIP”

I’d say add as many gamepasses/developer products as you can, but don’t make it too pay-to-win or unfair for people who want to play for free. Premium Payouts are also a great way to earn Robux, so as long as people with Roblox Premium play the game, you should be good!

I’ve made some big updates to the game, and I’ve also implemented some more monetization stuff. Here are my future plans regarding monetization and gameplay:

New gamemode - Zombie Siege, Players randomly chosen to be zombies attacking a king while others are chosen to be players defending the king from the zombies.
Several zombie types, zombies becoming stronger as the round goes on.

Current game becomes “Arcade” mode.

Cash is not separate from gamemodes. You can gain cash in Zombie Siege and use it in Arcade, and vice versa. Your weapons and tools will be separate, though, since the way I want to approach Zombie Siege requires this seperation.

Skin system - Players get skins for claiming daily in-game rewards, earning killstreaks, other tasks, and alternatively, buying crates (very cheap)
Trading system, so players can trade skins.

Gambling for skins wouldn’t be encouraged, since they can earn them through conventional means. They also won’t be unfair to get.
My approach will be similar to Murder Mystery’s skin system.

Built in, random in-game tournaments and leaderboard system. Each week players who want special rewards are motivated to get the highest killstreak they can in one life.
The top 3 users with the most kills in one life will get rewards, such as special permanent items, skins, etc

Clan system which would give players special chat tags. Clans would require players to spend around 5000 in-game cash to create. Refunds itself when clan is deleted.
Does not disable friendly fire. Only grants chat and username tags, and this may also play in part with the tournament system, where if a person in a clan wins a tournament,
the entire clan may receive rewards (not the same one) based on their overall contributions.

Any thoughts?
