How did berezaa create this tile/gird pattern in Miner's Haven?

TL;DR at the bottom in bold…

Sorry if this is the wrong category.

As many of you know, berezaa open-sourced a version of Miner’s Haven a few months ago. One of the things I was most curious about before he released it was, his placement system. Specifically, the grid pattern that appears when you start to place items. Because it was open-source, I was able to find the exact decal he used.

In case berezaa ever decided to change the decal or delete it, I wanted to replicate it. However, despite my attempts, I have no idea how he did it. Specifically, I’m confused about how he managed to keep one part of the pattern the same color.

Is there a trick you can use to achieve this effect? Thanks!

I don’t think berezaa responds to PMs… so I didn’t try…

It has to do with the distance settings chosen in the texture drop down. From the looks of it, you have left gap room rather than having them flow consistently.

Also, a side note: do not use other people’s private creations in your own game. Not only is this a jerk move in general, but it also makes you look bad as a creator! I get that it’s “just a square” but having those boundaries set now are crucial to ensuring that you maintain a standard necessary for the future

Can you elaborate on distance settings? I don’t see that as a property of Texture, and a quick search on Google showed no results related to textures.

Also, according to the license:

The license allows games which use any amount of the source material but have an otherwise unique identity and branding to be monetized freely.

From Berezaa’s Medium Article. (I bolded any amount.)

Regardless, I’m not going to directly use his decal, I’m just interested in how he did it, so I can replicate it to look similar.

Figured it out.
Anything purely black won’t be affected by the Color3 Property under Texture.
