How Did I Do On My Game?

As a developer I wanted to make a great game the public would love, I started working on it, had to restart the whole design of the game, but finally created a game called Bacon Escape. In this game you could be picked as the fry cook or be picked as a bacon burger. The fry cook has to get all of his bacon burgers back by hitting them with a pan while the burgers have to run away from him.

In my game page I have some future plans for the game, but I would like to get feedback from you guys who probably have worked on games a lot longer then I have. Please tell me what you think of the design of the game, the structure, anything that comes to your mind.

Here is a poll for a rating of my game from 1-5, 1 being a terrible game and 5 being an awesome game.

  • 1 – terrible game, lack of effort
  • 2 – needs some good amount of work
  • 3 – good, but needs a little work
  • 4 – great game, some things could be improved though
  • 5 – awesome game, great design and structure

Summary On The Game:

This game is a multiplayer game kind of like Clown Killing in a way, but with a different style. When you enter the game one person is chosen to be a fry cook and the rest are chosen as bacon burgers. As the fry cook you have to chase the bacon burgers and hit them with your frying pan around the school and if you are a Bacon burger well your job is the opposite, you need to run away from the fry cook and stay alive until the time runs out. Then who ever wins will earn some crumbs, the currency in my game, and be able to spend it on any other skins they want in the shop. Then the rounds just repeats and chooses another player to be the fry cook, there has to be at least two players in the game though.

Thanks For Reading And Your Feedback Is Appreciated! :slightly_smiling_face:

Ok hear me out; you probably shouldn’t be using the same lobby as the one from Twisted Murderer.

You might’ve found it in free models and might not know it’s originally from Twisted Murderer, but it is:

I think the music fits with what you’re going for. The UI definitely needs some work, it’s not really that pleasing to the eye. There’s a lot of color contrast between the frames and the buttons and it all clashes. I’d recommend looking for a “color palette” on google images. It will give you sets of colors that look good together, and you can find one good for your game.

I can’t really play the game since there’s no one ingame, but I’ll check it out again later.

If this is one of your first games, then you’re definitely on the right track and don’t stop deving!

I can join you right now, but I didn’t know that the lobby was part of Twisted Murder. Thank you for that I will try and change that immediately. Yes I have used free models which I hate to do, but I have no builders right now so I had to do that.

The game looks great, but there are are a few things that could be improved.

  • I must say, the lobby looks very nice, but it doesn’t really fit the setting of the game. I also can’t shake the feeling that I’ve seen the exact same lobby somewhere else before… Edit: I just read @d_vHoodie’s reply. It is from another game.

  • The text for the intermissions, and stuff like that is in the center of the screen, which would be better if it were at the top rather than shoved in the player’s face.

  • If you’re a burger, you’ll be pretty much screwed for the entire round, since the chef can easily find and get you. You just spawn in a room and the chef spawns in a hallway, where all the rooms are connected, and you just have to hope the chef goes in some other room where you aren’t in. The burgers don’t even get a headstart to hide, nor is there a place to hide anywhere. Correct me if I’m wrong, because I couldn’t explore the map since I was a burger.

  • If you’re a burger, you pretty much spawn in the same room everytime, which can be frustrating.

  • Once again, as a burger, you can get stuck and spazz out in a lot of places, like between desks. But as a advantage to being a burger, you can hide in small places where the chef can’t, like under a table, which is another unfair advantage. Correction: The chef actually can get the burger under the table, but the burger may think they’re still invulnerable, and hide there, so you might want to close it off.

  • The “codes” GUI is not centered at the screen, but it’s offset.

  • The chef seems to instantly kill any burger in one hit. Correct me if I’m wrong though. It’s another unfair advantage for the chef.

  • If players leave between intermissions, and there’s only one player, it will still teleport the player as the chef, but the game would immediately think that the chef got all the burgers, when really, the players just left.

Other than these things, the game is great! I like the concept, how burgers have to avoid a savage chef. If the above things were improved, this game would be very awesome. Keep up the good work.

Tl;Dr: The chef has a major advantage over the burgers, making it pretty unfair.

I think this should be some kind of minigame, it better for you to make more minigames and make it like a party game.

Thank you for all of the feedback guys! This was really helpful and I will change anything I can to make this game better, especially the lobby. I know I can always count on the community to help me with these things.

Don’t be ashamed to used free models!

I’ve been developer for almost a decade now on Roblox and still use them. There are a lot of amazing assets that you can find.

For using free models I’d probably look for asset packs, since you can just use them and build your own thing using those assets, without needing to know how to build well.

Here’s some easy suggestions that I think would improve the game:

  1. Bigger map - The map I played was really small and it didn’t have many ways to run. If the frycook stayed at the door, I would die easily

  2. How To Play screen for first time players to explain once what the game is all about and how you play it

The lobby looks good, but it’s pretty generic. Add some bacon themed things to it like pigs and actual bacon and burgers, anything to make it more unique.

Adding on to what everyone has said, I think you have a good game concept that is pretty fun. The only thing is that it’s not really competitive; the chef can win easily every round. A larger map, maybe some abilities for the bacon burgers if they survive for a certain time, etc… These things would augment the experience while keeping it a little more balanced. Vanilla hide and seek is pretty boring when you’re always slower than the seeker and have nothing else to do.

But I love the aesthetic of the game in general (I didn’t pay much attention to GUIs and I was on mute). It has some good details but as some have already stated, it could use a little more in some lacking areas. But otherwise I liked it. Nice work!

Your game sounds like other games with similar gameplay like “Flee the facility” or “Murder mistery”
Maybe you could add something or revamp the idea to spice things up because your idea is an overused format.

Maybe you could make that the bacon burguers have an ability which is to drop greece for 10 seconds.
And if the fry cook touches the greece they slip.

The game looks pretty good, but could use some improvement.

  • The fry cook has a huge advantage. He is way too fast, and the burgers have no where to go.

  • The map is too small, so the burgers can’t really get away from the fry cook.

  • “Grab some of your friends” is a weird way to phrase it, I would recommend changing that.

I wish you luck with the game.

When I first joined I first noticed the GUI design, that’s one thing I would be focused on upgrading. The game thumbnail font doesn’t feel very appealing, and it’s not as striking as a game thumbnail should be. Another thing I would change is the lobby, add more interactive things in it, maybe an obstacle course or a AI you can converse with? Also, I don’t really understand why there would be a bed in the lobby? Keep working, the game is coming out well :grinning:
