-How do devs start Making a game?

Hello everyone! AgentL06 here,
Today i wanted to ask you all how should I and developers start a game. I am currently Working on My New Game,“The Final Chronicles” in studio and by script (being to organize events and additions to the game). I was wondering and which I am quite stumped, How should I start the Process in Studio? I started to build thinking of what I was expecting and got quite confused for I just building my first map in the game for the game will function off of a GUI lobby and have a background. Here are some things i have thought about that may help to start things up and running.

  • Game Script (Organizing things especially in this kind of game.)
  • Blueprints for structures such as my first map.(on the bridge between if I should change it or not.)
  • Script Blueprints for The Scripting of the game and how to organize it.)
  • Lore Script (Keeping the story and or Stories organized)
also while working what helps you keep focused? I try to listen to music but i spend too much time thinking of which album or artist to listen to.
Anyways that is all I have for now, Let me know what you think could help out!
    Thanks a ton

What I do is I brainstorm some ideas then I decide the style low poly or realistic then I start building.

Use blueprints for planning out your game so you can hold on to your idea and you can modify it.

I totally agree, I also find reference images of what I want to build online for instance something from google and then write down a basic concept of it. This game is going to be a Chapter involved game but i don’t want to spoil the storyline for what I have down so far all I’ll say is that it is going to be a much different roblox game. Might actually consider getting a dev partner for it but I don’t know anyone, anyways for now it’ll be an indie game by me Thanks a ton!

Yeah, anytime! Have fun making your game!

Similar to what @BaggyChris said, I’d brainstorm some ideas at first such as what type of game do you want to make. You also have to ask yourself some questions like:

“What type of game is it? Will it be a FPS? Maybe a platformer or a RPG?”
“What is the pace of the game? Is it going to be fast-paced where you need quick reactions, or is it going to be a steady pace where the player can do their actions without the threat of something happening?”
“Is there already another game that is just like my idea? If so, how could I make it stand out?”
“Will players enjoy the game and what type of community am I directing the game to?”

For all of the Awesome repliers of this section-
Thanks so much! I will tell you guys a little more info on what i already have to answer some of the Awesome replies, Thanks so much!

  • it is Sci-fi horror but will probably be listed as horror
  • There will be jump scares
  • Weird but it is a prequel to another story I have in mind
  • It is a escape game but with different challenges per Chapter
  • the community is not really directed I will try to make it as available as possible
  • It will stand out (Cant explain why because it may spoil the gameplay)
  • The game has numerous characters already for Chapter 1
  • Yes it will be similar to piggy in a way But believe me like @PortABoi said I will break the trend of bad and Clear rip off’s of Piggy.
  • The story is not inspired by anything I have completely created it all.
  • The games will last about 10 minutes
  • Gameplay will differ from each Chapter so expect something new and a new challenge for each chapter so gameplay is not just the same thing.
Did that answer all of your questions? XD i just wanted to say thank you all so much and have a good day.

I try to think of some ideas for a game. I normally play an indie game for some inspiration. I then try to draw out some concept art or find photos of what objects I want in the game to use as a reference. Then I would start building and find a design I like when building objects.
