What do you want to achieve? Keep it simple and clear!
To get back motivation again. -
What is the issue? Include screenshots / videos if possible!
I have been out of motivation for a year now. -
What solutions have you tried so far? I’ve tried thinking of famous developers success. But that just made me less motivated.
Why don’t you think of the finished product?
I’ve tried but thanks you for trying to help
Instead of fixating on success, focus on the joy of the process itself! Game programming and scripting empower you to create a universe where the rules are entirely yours. This is my personal perspective, but I believe the games you make are primarily for your enjoyment, regardless of external recognition.
Whether you’re delving into reverse engineering or exploring whimsical ideas, what matters most is that you find pleasure in the creative journey.
Consider thinking of programming and scripting as akin to drawing or writing. Many who engage in these activities do so because they genuinely enjoy the process, often starting out of habit. Just like other forms of art, it’s a personal endeavor for your own satisfaction.
Ultimately, you get to decide what motivates you—whether it’s financial gain, success, or something entirely different. Everyone’s motivation is unique, and it’s normal for it to evolve over time.
If you find it challenging to stay motivated, it might be worth trying new approaches. Remember, programming should be a fulfilling activity, not a chore. If you discover that it doesn’t resonate with you, that’s okay too. Your free time is precious, so do what brings you joy.
I want to emphasize that I’m not discouraging you from scripting; everything I’ve mentioned is just my personal perspective on the joy of making games. The key is to find what resonates with you and brings fulfillment to your creative endeavors.
It does bring me joy but I seem to have loss all my creativity.
I believe you are having an art block.
Are there any friends you can work/collaborate/talk with?
When I get an art block, that’s what I normally do to get ideas.
thanks, chatgpt your really saved this one
Focus on the smaller details rather than the larger picture itself.
Split a big task into smaller tasks and do them from easiest to difficult. If you try to make everything all at once, you will easily lose interest in it.
Splitting them into smaller tasks will just make it easier for you to focus on.
If you have to, plan what you’re going to do rather than go in blind about it, because if you have no plans about what you’re doing, you will only hurt yourself.
one way can be psuedocode
if This Stuff happens then
perform this
else
perform that
You essentially plan what you will write, as well as what should happen.
Oh ill try that, thank you so much!
Roblox is a place to use your imagination and have fun, or you could treat it like a business venture for money. Either way you can’t find commitment with money as incentive or programming itself; I’d suggest you try something else.
I just want to make people happy while making games.
If this is your goal and you can’t find amusement in programming maybe try being a project manager or game owner. You could also consider checking out a different field of development.
Like something like LOVE2D or something? If so I don’t really feel as comfortable with it, due to it being less documented than Roblox is.
What do you want to get out of scripting? Do you want to enjoy scripting, or is it that you want to create a popular game? Maybe both?
Both I can build good too thanks for asking!
