How do I make this box white? It used to be solid white a few months ago.
EDIT: It gets white like I want if I move my camera closer. What is going on?
Is it your fog settings?
Uhhh, no.
Oh. I noticed neon and some 3d GUIS elements were effected by it.
I was able to reproduce this, but only after I messed with the fog.
This might just be some rendering bug.
The core selection box being on the screen makes my selection box render correctly

So I figured it out by deleting stuff until it worked right. If you have a hinge in the game it will make your selection boxes render with shadows.

Wow, that solution sounds like some obscure cheat in an old Nintendo game.
