I notice that when trying to make my own tab, I cannot make grouped tools such as the Insert Part tool (which is a grouping of all 5 insert part type tools).
Is this currently possible? And how do I do it if it is?
I guess I really would like to know if there is a documentation available for the new UI
I don’t know if there is a way to do it in Studio, but I found the config files for custom ribbon menus as well as the default ribbon menus. It is pretty straight-forward syntax, so I think I will be able to do whatever I need to do looking at these files.
They are both under AppData > Local > Roblox. The custom ribbon menu configs are there under YourUserId > CustomRibbonTabs. The default ribbon menu configs are under Versions > most_recent_version > RibbonConfig.
Yeah, the new UI lets you make custom tabs for the topbar. I went ahead and duplicated all of the default ones so I can customize those too.
If you want more complicated features (like advanced formatting), I can’t answer. I was able to do it by manually editing my config files, but there has to be a better way.
Yeah, there is a way to access the old UI. In Beta Features there is an option to disable next gen UI and Explorer. I read that it will not be available forever though, so I figured I would just learn the new UI as soon as possible. I do actually really like it, I don’t understand why everyone hates it
I see, I might not have it on, what’s current I like, I’ll have to see what this new Ui is like. But I definitely can see why people wouldn’t like things, I used to use studio from back in 2013 before it was changed to how it is today.
It was a huge change that took me personally a long time to get used to.
I would definitely understand if they completely revamped things and moved stuff around, but everything is in the same spot. The only real difference is in the general feel of the UI (it feels a lot softer). There isn’t really anything to re-learn, only new features that you can optionally learn. That’s why I personally like this new UI
I mean, even if you don’t like the placement of things in the new UI, you can move it all around (even if it’s tedious at the moment)
