How do I model hair as if it was made for an older game console?

i want to design character hair as how you see mario’s hair in super mario 64, but im just not too sure where to begin. im using blender for this and im kinda stuck at where to go from here, becaue anything i try doesn’t really give me what i want to achieve.

heres an example of what i mean

i know about scaling, extruding, beveling and a lot of the basics, but even with that i’m confused with how to do this. so i wonder, does anyone have any tips on how to achieve something similar to this? if so, that’d be cool to hear, thanks in advance!

Old game console character design doesn’t have a sharp look to them. They achieve this by using triangles for vertices, You can achieve this on your model by using a modifier called “Decimate” It reduces the triangles of a model and make it look less quality but achieving the goal of fewer triangles.

Heres few examples of what I meant

Here’s how you can find/use the modifiers.
Remember clicking on the object that you want to add modifiers on.

image You can drag the ratio to lower the quality of the object
“Face count” Shows the number of triangles on the object, By doing this you can see the changes in your model!

Here is link that explains the “Decimate” Modifier
https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/modeling/modifiers/generate/decimate.html

I hope this helps you out, Please let me know if you have any questions! Good luck!
