Someone offered to pay me to draw there Roblox avatar so I said sure
I drew the picture and then sent it to them to see if they wanted me to change anything
but they took the picture I sent and didn’t pay me and then blocked me
how do i sell people my art without them stealing it again
Send them the art with a watermark on it, once they give you full payment you send it to them without it.
oh, I’m sorry that happened to you! I suggest adding a watermark to what you draw!
here is an example
Like @StodiusDev said, a watermark, or some sort of very low-res version that gives an idea of the quality of your art, without the finished product.
Or add random black bars inside the picture in places that are not the focus but would look strange if it was not there, such as putting a black box over a non main character in a group shot, or you could just use a watermark
Add some watermark before actually sending the picture! After they buy it, remove it! Simple as that.
ohhhh one of those things!! thats a smart idea ty!
Make a report to roblox to block copying images on there sight.
The reasons why they have it open is to cause less website script errors. Usually i’d just make a report and tell them the person who pladgerized your art.
Light gaussian blur should work as well as a watermark as other people had suggested.
Some people just blur watermarks and then replace it with an existing image.
Bouta tell the best tip you can use to get rid of a scammer → Make them pay half first (before you start) or all at first.
Not only will this build trust between you and the client it will prove they are actually willing to pay. I actually will never start a design until I get paid the half first, because then I know they are legit and I won’t be wasting my time. Even though can just take it when i show them the first example of what I had created I know I would have the watermark on there to save me.
Even though they can be good to stop scammers they can be ineffective. The reasons watermarks aren’t so effective is because they can easily be removed by someone skilled enough in photoshop. Like for example I, myself, can depending on the watermark location and size can remove one in 5 - 20 minutes.
Although watermarks can still help, by making it a very obvious color that doesn’t match the rest of the image it can mess up ways to remove it. Along with making it very obvious make it very big or make a-lot of them so it takes up the whole image.
Lastly, NEVER send a full res, unwatermarked version to a client if they haven’t paid yet. I hoped this helped!
P.S. One of the most preferred ways is by using a brush tool to well, spill some “profanity” over the image in bright colors then lowering the opacity.
From the customers POV, you could be a scammer by asking for payment first. The best method is a watermark.
Never once, had I confronted as a scammer for asking half upfront (although this can be due to me being known). The point being I haven’t been told by someone that “I’m scamming them” for asking payment upfront. I believe that if they are a legit developer they would understand that we need to take precautions to ensure they don’t just steal it.
But what you are saying could be a fair point if the artist is new to selling and not that known. Then even if the client were to think you were scamming it shouldn’t be to hard to explain yourself and possibly show proof then they would most likely understand.
The risk will still always be there. Payment upfront is good because you know the customer is serious, but still, you always have the option to scam them. And waiting till the finished product but adding a watermark could work, but what if the customer was just trolling and waisting your time.
I would use Payment upfront as well, but all I am saying is it is easy to just accept payment then not make the art.
Generally a watermark on a lower res version of the picture can be a good sample (Not too low res though) And it should convince them that it’s not going to be a scam or anything
