Hey, everyone,
I’ve been wondering how new Roblox hangout games get their first players. It’s been tough trying to get people to check out my game, especially since there are so many other games out there.
I’ve tried promoting it on Trade Hangout, but I only average 1 or 2 players when I do that, and it’s not really working. I also can’t use the Roblox Ad Manager because I don’t want to keep buying gift cards just to get Robux for ad credits, and I don’t want to use my card to pay directly either.
For anyone who’s made a hangout game (or any kind of game), how did you get those first few players? Did you promote it on social media, ask friends, or do something else?
Here’s my hangout game link: The Classic House (Flex Your Time) - Roblox
Any feedback would be helpful!
Usually with some games it just depends how long a player (or group of players) plays for.
Blockate is a great example of a mini-simulation of how more players = more players.
Essentially, the more players that remain in your game, the higher your game goes up in the ‘rankings’. The higher the rankings, the more people see it. The more people see it, the more they join, and the cycle continues!
Another way to boost players is as you said, social media. Quick Views such as YT shorts would be able to provide your trailer to a range of audiences, potentially increasing your joins!
With personal experience, sharing with friends isn’t really the best way. I shared my creation with a couple of friends, but it didn’t really go that far. Just about 10 people.
Hopefully these help :]

Thanks for the tips! I didn’t think about how keeping players around longer could help with rankings, so I’ll work on that. The YouTube Shorts idea is solid too—gonna give that a try. Appreciate the help!
