Hey everyone,
I’ve been uploading UGC items recently and putting a lot of effort into promoting them externally mainly through TikTok and YouTube Shorts. I’m starting to get a decent amount of traffic and sales from these platforms, but I’m really curious about how the UGC recommendation algorithm on Roblox actually works.
Does anyone know what factors go into getting your item recommended on the Marketplace? Is it just about sales volume and traffic, or are there other hidden signals like click-through rate, favorites, or engagement time?
Also, for those who have had their UGC items picked up by the algorithm and recommended how long did it take, and what do you think helped push it over the edge?
Any insight or personal experience would be super helpful. Just trying to understand how to optimize for visibility beyond external marketing.
Thanks in advance!

I wouldn’t necessarily call it a “hidden signal,” but one factor that plays a major role in visibility and sales is how you name your items. Some creators go for a more professional naming style like “Top Hat (White),” but it’s usually more effective to name your item based on what someone would actually search for. Instead, use something like “White Top Hat.”
A few of my UGC items have been picked up by the algorithm, and in my experience, this usually happens within a couple of days of uploading—sometimes even sooner.
Here are a couple of tips that have worked for me:
-
Avoid using Roblox’s sponsor feature for UGC items. In my experience, it doesn’t generate meaningful results and can end up being a waste of Robux.
-
Always use relevant tags. If your item is cute, make sure to tag it with “cute” and other descriptors a potential buyer might search for. Proper tagging helps surface your items to the right audience.
