How do you add a part to a character?

Hey Developers,

So im creating a game but for some reason I cant seem to get a part to stick to a players character. I’ve tried welding, But whenever I weld it- It moves whatever I welded to what I welded it to. Im not sure if this is how its made to work (I’d think this is, But I just started doing this for the first time) and wanted to know how to do this. I tried searching the Dev Forums but cant find anything. I do have the parts un-anchored and CanCollide off. If you know of a post that has answer to this, Or you know how to fix this- Please let me know! Also, If you need more info, feel free to ask!

Thank you!

Always when I try to “Add a part to a character” I add an Accessory to the character, move your part to the Accesory, then name the part “Handle” and then add an Attachment to the part, depending on which part of the body you want the part to move with, rename the Attachment, for example, we name it HatAttachment to create hats, you can find more Attachments by clicking on the body part where you want the part to weld.
To move your part, select the Attachment, not the part, then, try wearing your Accesory, fix it if its necessary and then send me an screenshot of your result.
Dont forget to unanchor the part!

Thanks for the info! A friend of mine showed me a nice plugin that has an ‘Auto Weld’ tool inside of it. (Allows you to just add a part to the character, then weld it without the part being moved) although it is nice to know of a way to do it without a plugin. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
