When games do live updates, like the adopt me and jailbreak ones, they change the thumbnail and icon really quickly and there is no waiting for approval picture, is this because it only shows the not approved thumbnail on the developers screen, while on the non developers screen it shows the most recent thumbnail, until the new thumbnail is aprovved.
In games like these, Since they are such big games they wont just throw out updates like a gun, they will prepare for them first. big games like these would prepare before thinking about a live update.
My point is, they probably didn’t just make it quickly, they probably made pictures on an alt account.
But you can’t upload thumbnails like a decal.
I think it’s about timing the thumbnail and the update itself. Like they wait for the approval and when it gets approved they quickly set everything for the update and release it.
But I don’t think it is it told to go through the approval system until you press save, which put’s it on the game thumbnail.
Probably there is a automatic system that when you release the update it puts the thumbnail and game icon of your choice when it gets approved, but I doubt it.
Yes, there most likely Isn’t…
I have always wondered this question, it’s an interesting and hard one.
Theres one way I think developers do to make it load fast;
So when you put the thumbnail as a decal in Roblox Studio then Roblox will already know what it is, which is great because now the developer can go to their game and upload the thumbnail and it will go quickly. If you have ever used a image on google and uploaded it in Roblox did you see it be approved fast? This is because somebody probably added it to Roblox too.
So what I’m trying to say is if you or somebody has uploaded that thumbnail then the next time you do it it will be approved very quickly because it’s obviously already moderated.
I have been in a team create in studio before and I have uploaded a decal inside of roblox studio and it was fast to show, but my friend couldn’t see the decal it was just blank, this is the same with audios, Since I was hosting an awards and I used my real voice via audios I had uploaded to roblox, and I had to wait a while until they could actually hear the audio.
What I’m saying is that, it still has to approve until other people can see it or hear it.
Oh, interesting. Roblox probably has a system where it will work for other people over a certain amount of time just to check if its 100% fit.
But next time make sure to upload your asset an hour earlier just to avoid any delays because thats what I would do if I have an update for my game and I don’t want anything bad to happen.
I have used this game as a test:Skiloopski's Place Number: 39 - Roblox
The old thumbnail for the game is the default roblox one, and I have changed it to this image right now:
Tell me whether you see the new or the old or you see a blank approval image.
They upload the icon and thumbnail on a test game and when it passes the moderation they upload it to the real game
How do they upload it to the new game?
The same way they would normally. It will recognize the image and let it pass through with no issue.
Ok, I will try this within the next couple of minutes.
Yeah, like I said earlier, once the image is recognized then it’ll upload quickly or without an issue.
If you upload the thumbnail on an alt account and it gets approved, it’s added to a temporary “automatic upload” table in Roblox’s asset moderation.
