I really want to get better at UI Design. My UI’s are a bit ugly. Below is a image of a menu UI I am trying to do.
Can someone please tell me on how to get better at UI design. I am trying to do it for a roleplay game.

The process of learning how to make such complicated and detailed works is a long one. There is no shortcut or YouTube video that would teach you everything about UI and make you an instant expert. What I recommend is to start learning the skills by creating UI with Roblox’s engine. That will help you get the basics of UI and watch it come to life when you play-test the game. After that, move on to the designing software that you own. Personally, I use Affinity Designer, it is very similar to Adobe Illustrator but only requires a one-time purchase. Once you are in, get familiar with the controls and interface of your software. If you have already done this, feel free to skip this step.
Now that you have a foundation of knowing the basics of UI and software to go with it, find examples of UI on the internet and use them as references to create your own. Or, if those are too complex, find games with simple UI and improve them yourself. Here is an example of me doing just that in my early days:
In this example, you can see that I take Bloxburg’s modern style of UI and create my own keycard menu- from nothing but a fridge menu! This way of learning and creating will get you very engaged and educated in UI, which will boost your skills a ton. If you have done this for a very long time, it means it’s time to get into doing commissions. Once your skill has reached a certain level, start taking short-term jobs, and improve yourself even further. Taking instructions from someone and creating something based on that will help a lot since you will be able to draw a clear picture in your mind of what you want.
From then on, you have officially learned how to make UI and just how many steps there are to it. But, remember, this is no step-by-step process. You have to work at your own pace and do whatever feels right to you. This can either be very easy or very hard for you. It all depends on your willingness to learn and create. You can start slow or start fast, but in the end, it will all work out for the better. Good luck!

Hey bro I have a question. By designing uis do you need to script it in the gane or not? I want to be a ui designer but I do not have roblox studio
Designing UIs does not require any scripting skills. That can be handled by another person. Also, it is free to install and use Roblox Studio, so I’m not too sure why you wouldn’t have it, especially on the DevForum.

No, I have a chromebook. It does not support RS
I can make uis designs but I am not able to script it in.
Oh, okay. Personally, I use a MacBook so I wouldn’t know about that.

Yep. I’m not trying to make a Complicated UI. I guess Modern/Minimalistic is detailed.

I’d use Photoshop, as it’s the most popular, and it has a lot of tools that make UI designing fairly easy. For anyone who doesn’t have photoshop, I’d definitely tell them to use Photopea, as it’s an easy tool that’s almost identical to Photoshop, but free.
That’s a good relief is it similar to to photo editing?
There is also some another option like Lunacy which is my favourite so far, It like canva but got more feature and easy to use. For example, you need to find some material or icon
What you can just do go here and search what icon you need
(Some icon are paid but it ok the free one already good)
Make it even good is it free!!!

Well, wanna know how I got better at UI Design? Pretty straightforward and simple really.
I basically googled some UI Designs, and tried my best to recreate it. I just kept on doing that until I got familiar with the tools programs give you, as well as UI Trends.

Its complex but you need to experiment around and play around with the tools you have i.e using different fonts, trying different blending options and you will start to become familiar with making UI’s very easily!
anotther tip is (you dont HAVE to) not use paint.net? its not made specifically for these kind of things try using photoshop (if you can afford it) or photopea.com its completely free and basically a replica of photoshop. Good luck in your UI journey

I’m a really big cheap skate. Why would I purchase photoshop when I might just use it once?
I’ve tried photo pea and I cant get used to it. I don’t know why.
