Hello everyone, I am currently in the works of a new game and need some help. I eventually will need a decent game icon and thumbnail for it. I don’t want to hire someone because I just can’t afford one, and I will NOT use any sort of ai generated icon/thumbnail no matter how good the ai looks. I don’t want to make any click baity overly saturated thumbnail, just need something clickable.
Does anyone have any suggestions that could help?

what i did was make a cool logo, and then put some random screenshot of the game behind it

On a budget, I go in game, Shift + P, find a nice spot and use scroll wheel to zoom in and out a little bit to find a nice zoom angle, then I put it in photoshop and put the game logo in the corner.
You could also blur the scene a little and put a large logo in the middle instead.

This almost exactly what i need, only problem, i don’t have a logo, what did you use for yours? I don’t have photoshop, do you have any experience in Pixlr, photopea, or gimp? I have been recommended those.
Photopea is about as close as you can get to photoshop for free in my opinion. When I was making it I just looked for free cartoony fonts, layered two texts on each other and changed the colour of the one on the bottom, then merged them and added a grey stroke. I just used google for the flags by searching checkered flag vector. Don’t really know what game you have, but I just looked for logos of games that had similar vibes to mine and just sort of recreated it in a similar fashion
