I’ve been busy working on an obby, my first game. I’m trying to think of ways to start up the playerbase, it obviously won’t happen overnight. It’s not 100% complete, but I have ideas for a boss battle at the end, a storyline, and more stages. So how does one make an obby more popular among players? It’s not going to be my only game that I make, so should I wait until I make another game to be popular? I’d like to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
By not branding it as an obby. I think people associate obbies with poorly made free model games, also, it might become impossible to find your game if you call it an obby, since it would be drowned out by spam games.
Well to get a game popular, contact many content creators offering them like admin, or arsenal does purple team, or a special item if they make a video on it, which will get there fans to play.
always use social media to your advantage, hype your game on twitter with tags like #robloxdev
like what @Pokemoncraft5290 said, dont brand it as an obby as people will think its another garbage broken freemodel filled obby that little kids play.
take tower of hell as an example, a front page game obby that is unique, not drowned by spam games, original, no free models, etc.
people dont see it as an obby, they see it as an obstacle course up a tower.
dont spend tons on sponsoring as it isnt efficient, but get it know at least when obby or your game name is shown.
make ads with good art/gfx targeting your desired audience that would fit best for your obby, but dont put everything into ads/sponsors, just keep it circulated to maintain a good amount of players and grow.
Thanks. This really helped! My game is called “Path of Misery,” so it doesn’t sound like an obby. I’ve already got some players (and 12 cents worth of robux) from posting the game on “Cool Creations.” I don’t have much social media, so how would I advertise it?
