How do you test for lots of players?

For a stress test I’d need to simulate around 40-50 real players on a server, but of course I don’t have a supercomputer to run all of those studio instances. Nor could I rally up like 40-50 people for testing. Any ideas?

If you’re on Discord or something, it should be possible to gather 40-50 players as long as you schedule a time for the closed beta test (there’s many advertising servers out there, so I’m sure you could find a good one). While it’s happening, watch how many servers open up. Assuming your server player limit is 50, you can just close down other servers if they open up. It’s a little unconventional, but in your situation it’s all I can think of. Hope this helps, although it probably won’t lol…

I got around 140 testers for one of my games by simply creating posts on discord servers, I even let them know it was a volunteer job but ngl testing games is just fun and something to do so anyone is up to do it.

It did take a few days to rack up all these people though.

My stress test requires an extremely controlled environment, I doubt all 50 players would do what I’d need them to do, all at once.

Trust me, as someone who has experience with tons of testers, they are like your minions. They will offer to help contribute to the game without even being paid type thing. I’ve had entire maps built for free, small things scripted if I can’t myself, animations, logos, its crazy. They’re extremely loyal to you, and will definitely do what you want them to do.
