In this video , this guy thins things very thin with scaling. I can’t do that.
When I try that, I can’t get close to the thinness.
F3X isn’t it, you have to size that thinly manually. Is he using a plugin?
I’m confused on how to do it.
You go to the model tab and change the “Move”. The smaller the move, the smaller you can make things. I wouldn’t go any lower than 0.1 studs though.
Okay.
I’ll solution this, I think this should help.
Now I can make my door…
As others have said, change the increments/move. I would recommend 0.5 and 0.25 as they’re easier to keep track of and keep symmetrical. 0.1 should be used in very fine cases.
Rotate should also generally be at 15 degrees, but any multiple of 90 works. Hope this helps!
Just a tip to add onto from above! ^
If you plan on working on very precise builds (cabinets, shelves, etc.) with some detail, I would recommend sticking on these settings:
- 0.1 scale
- 5 degrees rotation
- If you find any objects being off the edge you want, I would highly recommend splitting your scale/rotation number in half! Ex. 0.05 scale - 2.5 degrees rotation
Hope this helps, have fun building!
Great advice! I didn’t even realize how many times I found myself splitting increments in half.
Of course with cabinets/precise builds, some people find it easier to build it largely and scale it down. But that’s just a building preference. I would recommend OP to try both ways and see what he feels works best.
