How does my animation look?

me too, not much of an animator and this is one of my most ambitious projects

i think you’ve did 60 fps, because my gawd it looks so buttery smooth
while i did 24 (i didn’t know that i could’ve changed the frame rate)

im analyzing both of the animations

one of the main differences the arm throwing the gun

that i’ve held the arm throwing the gun for 4 keyframes to add that extra oomph to it, making it feel like extra power

and yours is moving to the next pose to catch it

probably a horrible video example but
in the first seconds of it, it shows
a girl on the left, she throws the ball and her arm stops at a sudden jolt, and then a quick pause before trying to catch the ball

thats what i’ve tried to replicate

next is catching the gun (can’t find video example)
but on mine i tried to make it seem like the gun is heavy so not as many keyframes so its all of a sudden

while yours feels like its made out of Styrofoam
like the bounce tho, as the character goes down while the gun falls into the arms and then goes back up after catching it

you didn’t have to do it in blender, probably roblox studios would suffice and maybe easier
i do like the face you’ve made

your animation is more on the silly/goofy side whilst mine is a tad bit realistic

i can say i like your dedication :+1:

It says in the video that it’s around 24-25 fps. Also, I used blender because of the curve editor (And I just prefer blender for animating)

Also, even if it moves fast for effect it should still have some easing otherwise it’s unrealistic.

Looks kinda easing spammed… Have to tried animating on 5’s with linear? As soon as I tried that my animations looked 100% better

ive been animating on 1’s and 2’s and sometimes 4’s

does this look any better?

Looks good! I’m not an animator so I can’t properly describe what I see, but there appears to be a bug on the gun in the beginning when the animation is started.

yeah i fixed the bug, it took me a realized to notice, but if you either change the starting position of the gun, weld the gun to where it spawns at or do animationTrack:Play(0)

for fast movements I wouldn’t suggest easing, otherwise it won’t look right, have you seen the captain underpants flip o Rama, is basically two different poses yet it provides striking movement

not only that but on puss in boots or spider verse they animate on 2’s and sometimes hold poses for 4 frames

I think one of the problems of your animation that it has wayyy too much easing, which harms it, shows little to none anticipation

one last thing, adding some easing might destroy the momentum for the gun throw making it feel not as powerful it can be

Just gonna be honest, you don’t know what you’re talking about.

i also don’t get your explanation either

im trying to explain my side of view, yet you provide little to none on your part

i’ve found a video that explains it more into depth

in the video it holds the pose rather than moving to the next pose immediately
