How exactly does playing sounds on the server slow it down?

I’ve seen a couple of posts that say "Play sounds via :FireAllClients()!!! never on the server that slows it down!!! :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: "

me, obviously clueless, has no idea what they exactly mean

i’ve been playing sounds on the server for as long as i can remember, i’ve never experienced any slowdowns

is it really better to play sounds via :FireAllClients()?

Never heard of server-sided sounds slowing down the server. Even if they do it’s an insignificant amount so don’t worry about it too much
