Btw I’m not that good at map design so take my opinions with a grain of salt
I think maybe making the map bigger would be good because right now it just looks like T R E E S
Maybe make some fog because I can see everything and if there was a monster or something I could see it from a mile away
Yeah and I don’t really know that much about horror games
Lol
You can place some deformed trees: Broken trunk, Leafless, Unique shaped, etc…
Also, u need to put a different skybox coz this one looks pretty normal and doesnt give a unique vibe.
And pls dont make the lighting as “Black and White” as in the 1st picture lol. People with sensitive eyes like me really hate it… Maybe some Dark-Orangey/ Purpley atmosphere would look cool for a horror place
and obviously, a spooky background music plays an important role in spookifying the place. And dont use the overly used horror themes btw, use something less heard OR if possible, make an original music…
thats it from me and good luck
The fog is a bit too heavy. I would like to see a little bit more visibility. Aside from the terrain and tree meshes, I don’t see anything else. Try adding some spooky props, more terrain, and maybe some cool buildings or structures.
I would also highly recommend you put some sort of terrain or background behind the map, so it doesn’t look like you can just walk off of the edge.
There are many ways to improve a scene or to make it have a horror theme, you should try achieving a decent atmosphere. In general add a cottage building in the start of the menu you could incorporate some sounds in random areas just to make have that theme set in birds - something in the bushes - tree sticks breaking ect.
Things to include “suspense, atmosphere” horror games normally feature a variety of ideas. When it comes to adding the perfect props and different ideas to incorporate that theme and style. You could add variation within the trees, just to make it less repetitive add a lamp post flickering or some animals peeking through the bushes.
Otherwise if you don’t know how to make a horror game or setting try viewing articles or resources as it will help you with adding the right props and overall atmosphere.
go on youtube and watch horror game gameplays, you’ll get lots of spooky ideas of what to do
im assuming you used fog start and fog end, which makes the sky a little bit weird. I would recommend using the new atmosphere instead, which makes the transition to the sky more smooth, that you can add in the lighting, and mess with its properties a little bit.
Add some abandon small factories from the 19th century, and or hide impaled corpses on some of the tree trunks. Be sure to make it very quiet with only sounds of bugs and or slight wind
Add some broken structures (such as broken trees, old cars, etc). This will make everything look more interesting and spooky. Perhaps more realistic terrain instead of just flat terrain would make it look more realistic (if that is what you’re going for)
Also, make sure the skybox is white like the fog so you don’t just see every silhouette on the map.
Hope this helps.
it looks amazing! maybe some more trees and some shrubs will make it look great! also maybe some abandoned cars that got attacked by whichever monster or something you put in the game and some forest ranger towers also
