How likely is it for the normal datastore to lose someone's data? Is it necessary to use datastore 2?

Sorry if this is the wrong category.
I have been working on a simulator all on my own, I’m a scripter of only around 3 months experience, and the game is almost at the stage of being published. I heard that the normal datastore can lose players’ data, and that you should use datastore 2 instead, but having only 3 months of experience, datastore 2 looks daunting, and I was wondering if I’d be fine using the normal datastore?

I used to use a normal datastore for my (now abandoned) game. Taking care of data was Tedious and frustrating, i couldnt even understand the system i made. Now for my work in progress game, im using DataStore2. It works very well. There were no data losses whatsoever and i never had to think about dealing with DataStoreService.

I think you should use DataStore2, however it may be complicated at first, but once you set everything up, youre good to go. Many huge games use DataStore2 (cant remember but they were big).
