Hello, I plan to attempt making a liquid looking animation using mesh deformation on bezier curves imported from blender into Roblox. The thing is that it would take quite a few bones in mesh deformation for each strand and I was wondering how many bones you can have in one rig at a time. If anyone happens to know the amount then please comment and have a good night.
I have a 99 bone rig. No issues once I got it loaded.
So could I have lets say 400 animated bones for one rig and render 2-6 at the same time at a game with 60 fps?
I would not commit without testing. Seems relatively easy to build a mockup. 20x20 grid of bones, 20x20 grid of blocks, parent with automatic weighting. Give it a ripple animation real quick and export. I expect it to work.
I can tell you that 180 copies of a 43 bone rig works, but I’m not sure anyone has the expertise to answer your question with certainty except roblox employees themselves. I remember someone built a cool ocean effect with a skinned mesh, but I have no idea what went into that.
Well thank you ill test that in the near future.
Did you test it? If so how did it go
Unfortunately I have not yet been able to test it yet for I am doing other things at the moment. When I eventually do this test I will remember this comment and tell you the results.
Cool thanks a bunch, good luck
