I’m thinking of creating a roleplay game with large server sizes (similar to the Life in Paradise, Adopt and Raise games from the late 2010s). I’m hoping to have a large map for a better experience (more buildings) and lots of players so there can be a lot of jobs to choose from. With this in mind, how many players can reasonably fit on a server?
It’s interesting so if you had that many people like 700 there would have been a performance drop but for servers like you want with 20 or even 30 there would be minimal performance drop reasonably with the kind of game your making if it was a big map 15 would be good even 20 but for a giant map go with 25 or a little more
40-70 server size with robloxs optimizing algorithm enabled would be fine. 100-120 would cause issues and anything above would be bad.
It is recommended that if you want to go to 100, you should keep your game’s code and map to a limit so it won’t overload the server.
It is also worth noting that roblox did improve the ram on their servers but it’s best to stay vigilant.
30-80 player servers in my opinion are the best optimization for a game to run smoothly, going past 80 can work but should stay around 120 anything past that and your servers will start to suffer.
