I made my first actual model. It has a few problems to it such as some of the faces flickering but if I try to fix that, the intire part will break. I know that people usually buy these in packs but I want to know the price for one item.
I would estimate this revolver to be worth around 800-1000. Please tell me if I need to decrease or increase the price as I am still new to Roblox marketing. Other feedback would also be appreciated.
The mesh has 12k total polygons in 13 objects/parts.
I could shrink the total polygons to less than 10k total.
Are you going to end up putting textures on it? If not, I would put it up for around 1200k - 1600k. Otherwise, it’ll depend on what textures you decide to put on it.
800 Robux?
At a rate of 0.0035 Robux/USD, that means you’d get $2.80.
You said it took you 3-4 hours. Let’s assume 3 hours for maximum hourly profit.
$2.80 / 3 is roughly $0.93.
Do you think that that is worth less than a single USD / hour?
If you’re willing to sell this model to multiple buyers, then $5-$10 may seem fair (if untextured - with a texture, more)
If you’re selling to just one buyer, and it is exclusive to their game, then you could ask for much more.
Im not going to put any textures because you are supposed to import into Studio, and then use materials and reflectance to give it that metallic look. If I were to use textures, it would take way more time and look less real. Maybe I could use brushed steel for the metal parts and some other texture for the handle, so I might try that.
As you can see, the only texture in the in the gun is the texture for the handle. Other than that, there really is no other textures in the gun. The gun just has a metallic material and reflectance which are properties you can put into the gun in Studio. There is no way for me to put these reflectance textures from blender into the actual mesh (not that I know of anyway. I tried putting some reflectance textures inside blender but Roblox does not support these things).
R$1000 seems fair. It’s untextured, and there seems to be a significant number of tris which may be unattractive to a RBX dev. R$1000 after taxes and through DevEx conversation equates to $2.45. Granted, that is absolute poop, but due to the above + the fact it is not limited to a single customer that seems fair - the aim through pricing it low like this is so that you can increase the number of purchases. If you consider the calculations someone else made above, to reach $29 you would only need to sell it 11 times at this price - the hard work is done, now you just list and sell.
Imo you’d be better off dissolving the number of tris, texturing it, and including it as part of a HQ gun set alongside other models you will create. A bundle of textured models separated as you described above would be attractive to Devs attempting to create their games.
