I am making a game that is centered in a place where it is always snowing. I have no idea what the “golden ratio” of snow is. So that begs the question, what is the right amount of snow on the ground, buildings, etc.?

I would use the world around us for inspiration. You can probably look up “snowiest places on Earth” to find some places that snow a lot. You can then use those places to find out how much snow covers the ground, buildings, etc.

When in doubt, 80% base amount and 20% large amount.
Also, keep in mind some places melt snow (such as heaters, running car engines etc). You could do some wind-based heaps as well, making the snow accumulate in edges and corners
