For the past few days I have been playing around with ideas of how people in the lobby of my game should end up going into a match. The lobby is home to the Shop and every player’s bunker which can be visited by other players. The thing is, if I put a normal countdown in the lobby for players to vote which map to play and the player wanted to go to the shop then they would have to either wait 5 long minutes for the game to end and miss out on getting cash, or join the current match and hope the have enough time to buy stuff from the shop and join the game or end up waiting 5 minutes for the game to end.
I was thinking of making an entrance for each individual map but that would mean a giant amount of people on the server and if I have more than 6 maps, not all of them will be occupied at once.

No I’m not having trouble building it. I’m just having trouble deciding how it should work.

How about making a shop UI that can easily be accessed when playing in a match
In theory I could, but 1, it would make players spend a lot of time deciding when it would be safe to open the shop UI, and 2 shopping isn’t the only thing people do outside of matches. Players also are able to visit other people’s bunkers (which is actually really important as they are used in matches) and give them a like if they think they are good. Bunkers with the most likes are copied from the lobby to the match, and can be viewed from the lobby by anyone. I can’t add a UI to like other people’s bunkers because they need to see the base to decide if it is good.

You can also make the shop closer to the match before it starts or even make the countdown for the match to start a bit longer like a minute or 45 seconds and if you’re thinking about making a shop UI maybe make it slightly see through or make it small
I want to make the match happen as quickly as possible because waiting is not fun. Even waiting for a 5 second long animation to finish isn’t fun and gets frustrating to watch.

Okay then add an Afk option so they can go to the shop and look at other peoples’ bunkers and if you like the idea of someone joining and then they have a UI button that lets them into the game or something like that then add it

I wouldn’t be too worried of other people joining mid game, that happens all the time in doomspire brickbattle and people have to leave games sometimes, and servers also wont be 100% full most of the time. I will consider that idea and will be good as a backup, but I’m still probably going to make separate entrances to different maps as it will give the game a non linear feel I guess. Sure, if I have more than 6 maps, not all of them will be occupied, but it shouldn’t be a problem. Either way, I’ll let people join running matches if there is room as there is an uneven amount of players, joining the match should help with the problem.
