I’m not that much a builder, but since I don’t have any money to spend on hiring, I have to make a world and scripting for my game.
I know a ton about building but I’m just not sure how I should start building my game up, how do you all do it? (Like if you were making a city, where would you start?)
If you don’t mind, it would help if you have an idea or concept of the game; basically what the game is about.
People have their own tastes on things like this. Some would start in a completely different way than others would. However, I would personally start at a “center”, like a park or something. From there, I would build outwards.
My game is primarily based on vehicles. I was planning for it to be based in a city with highways and speed traps. But I’m not entirely sure what to build first.
My first option applies and works best if you are planning on making the vehicles be fast, race, and/or need a large amount of room to work well. In this case, make a city that would be open for vehicles to move freely and have less and minor crashes between environment and vehicles.
My second option applies for the case in which you’re going for a casual, slow operation of the vehicles, sort of like how roleplay games work. In this case, prioritize details over movement of the vehicles.
Starting these 2 options would work in a similar way:
Create a base line; a layout of every major thing and where it will go.
Start anywhere that you want to and either do everything in 1 go or build infrastructure and basic details first before going into the advanced building.
In this case, build the roads first. Everything else you will build around the roads, as they will be much harder to fit within ur city the way you like after structures have been built.
