How to Alter Sun Cycle Position?

Good morning- if it’s still morning for you.

I’ve made a mistake in my experience where I’ve already begun sculpting terrain and building structures and then I realized just now that I did not place everything where it needed to be in accordance with studio’s sun placement. What I mean to say is like there is a building where the sun should be shining on the front doors, as was the plan, but because I built everything in the wrong direction from the sun this is not the case.

I’ve tried using the celestial body draggers plugin to manually place the sun’s position, however, I am eventually going to be implementing a clock time cycle script, and this plugin does not exactly reset the “cycle position”, if you understand what I mean. If I place the sun where I need it to be and then toy with clock time it just creates a small radius for the sun to rise and set from the ground rather than alter the clock time cycle structure. Basically, my map is facing north when it should be facing east.

Am I going to have to rotate all of the terrain and assets by 90 degrees? That’s gonna be a pain that I’m trying to avoid if at all possible primarily because there’s a lot of terrain. Thanks in advance.

Does adjusting Lighting > GeographicalLatitude help?

Install > Click plugin Icon > you can now drag the sun around via holding left click and over the sun and moving your cursor!

It has the same effect that using the celestial bodies plugin would have. It doesn’t change the position of the sun to make sense for the clock time cycle, it just effects the size radius of the sun on an unaffected clock time cycle. I know that sounds odd to explain:

Right now, the sun is rising on what to me looks to me as the northern part of the map, and setting in the south. When I scroll through the clock time property, the sun rises and sets in those directions. I need it to rise in the east and set in the west, so it would make sense. Adjusting geographical latitude doesn’t fix.

I don’t know man, I may have to bite the bullet and spend hours rotating everything and all the terrain 90 degrees.

(Typed that before you provided the plugin, I think that would do relatively the same thing that the celestial bodies plugin does, where it just puts the position of the sun elsewhere and doesn’t effect the clock time cycle effect I’m referring to)

I tried the plugin just now, it looks like it affects the clock time cycle to me. I used it, then scrolled through the clock cycle and it does change it. It’s a little fiddly, but try varied positions for a couple minutes and it should work eventually.

That spot where I placed the sun with geographical latitude would be east for me, a good “morning” spot for it. But after I set it there and adjust clock time, the sun has a smaller rotation radius. It doesn’t pan over in the correct direction.

The plugin is different (i think) - it doesn’t just edit Geographical Latitude, it actually lets you to completely move the sun onto different axes, yes still within limits but it’s easier to get the right spot.

I think a decent solution is to do what you said: bite the bullet and rotate your map. If you want accurate sunsets and rises, your map should be facing it.
