What does it mean when it says “Item is too new to archive”? the item in question is 2 months old
EDIT: Nvm i just found out why. it has to be at least 180 days old to be archivable

Agree, that’s something that should be answered.
Archive requests by emailing support worked for that even if a group wasn’t under the ownership of the owner who uploaded those assets.
Now prospects of any email support is up in the air. I hope they thought this through because roblox have been working on an archive system for several years at this point while still being cagey about the details.
Would this every come for Meshes?
Currently this is a feature for MeshParts but not for Meshes.
Thank you for this! I was just able to archive like 8 shirts and pants I had cluttering my account since 2018.
YES! FINALLY! Many people have been waiting wanting to take their items off! This is a nice update and change!
Thanks for your detailed answers to all of our questions/concerns!! Especially ones that impact user safety.
If you’re going to say this, at least have the decency to respond to important concerns.
Edit: Just noticed you’ve made around 6 announcements but haven’t replied to a single one. I’m assuming the onus is on the team responsible to reply to concerns, not yourself, but please notify them to do so if they’re not aware of these queries.
This feature took way longer than it should have. We kept getting moderated for assets we uploaded years ago, back when there were no DMC restrictions. We couldn’t do anything to stop it or even delete the assets to avoid more moderation, which resulted to many people getting their accounts permanently deleted.
So it’s not like with paid assets, where you’d get refunded if they’re deleted? What about archived copyrighted items, People who owns it can still wear it, would i still be moderated for that?
I only just now noticed that they updated the FAQ with additional info on what archiving means. They added some of the points I already mentioned, and confirmed that an avatar item needs to be at least 180 days old before it can be archived.
When will archiving support limiteds? I have items that break TOS and I can’t archive as it is limited, and I am on my last strike to termination.
Its been a few months since this update was released and not a single question or concern was even answered yet.
UPDATE;
So it turns out archiving does nothing.

Can this be further clarified please? wasn’t the point of such a update like this LITERALLY so people could archive and hide old stuff of theirs so they wouldn’t be punished for things they did when they where younger? a guy on the forum is dealing with a issue in which an archived shirt of his literally got a strike, either from DMCA or AI moderation (has yet to be clarified) and I mentioned this post to him as well
I’ve seen some players be driven to copyright paranoia due to the system in force and if archiving literally does nothing to protect you from this, what is the point? is it really just a fancier way of taking clothing off-sale and hiding them to specific people
Copyright_Agent is also no longer in service, the only way to truly get assets of yours that that you don’t want on the platform anymore sent to be bulldozed along with the fact that the remediation program is supposedly discontinued, what is happening anymore?
UPDATE TO THE UPDATE:
Turns out the Copyright Agent Email Actually does work, and actually is responsive if an asset is archived and it says they are indeed upholding their promises to not apply strikes or moderation on assets that have been requested to be archived or have already been archived.
The first message I received was titled as a Terms of Service violation but never gave any clarity as to any of the details.
I then asked for a follow up:
The actual follow up was a canned response that never addressed the question:
So does the TOS violation count or not? I am still at a loss.
This is what I mean when I say Roblox Support is Kafkaesque. Its like trying to solve a riddle inside and enigma when it should be straightforward and intuitive. Why does support never answer questions directly??
ok, what? I’ve seen multiple say that the email is no longer in service, do they have some random guy maintaining the last requests? if so, why haven’t the stuff I requested to be archived (LITERALLY OVER A HUNDRED SHIRTS AND ASSETS) gotten removed yet??
Some guy here on the forum last night complained that he got a warning for a pikachu shirt that was archived, either from a very invasive DMCA attempt that broke and only came out as a warning or automated AI moderation
As it turned out, it was an old Pikachu shirt that I had requested to be archived and had subsequently been archived many months after I requested it.
My guess is that Nintendo just went on a scorched earth IP claim using keywords.
I am just as confused as well. I just replied back to my original request back when I compiled my list of items and sent them over to the copyright agent.
The emails are just not ran by real people.
I am now convinced everything is ran by AI and using keywords to paste a canned response and they only have so many responses to work with.
Its ridiculous.
This form of customer service must be made illegal.
The keyword moderation thing is concerning, will usernames be targeted next? should be glad that I didn’t pick a different name back in 2015 when I made my account as I was a HUGE pokemon fanboy back in the day.
One of my archived shirts is content deleted (but it never got my account a warning or moderation) and it mentions a name similar to a pokemon in it’s title yet because of it’s status, I am unable to change the name…
just great
Inappropriate usernames have always been targeted, and even if they were to target user names for copyright there are methods available to rename your avatar. That’s not something to worry about.
What worries people is classic clothing assets because of their penamence on the platform and how difficult it is to remove them.
I think, but I can’t be certain, that the Copyright Agent is willing to help if you don’t have direct access to those assets but can confirm you as the creator. It just takes a long time.
There should be clear guidance from Roblox about how to archive clothing assets that are in a group store that is no longer under your ownership.
Apologies for the rant, but Roblox’s DMCA system is utterly abysmal. For years, there have been complaints about how ridiculously harsh it is. Many people find themselves facing the same problem, they uploaded content when they were younger, and now, some corporation decides to punish them. Roblox claims their DMCA system has always been the same, but recent experiences by others on the platform over the past two years suggest otherwise, as it has become increasingly aggressive.
Roblox should implement a “grandfathering” system, where old assets created years ago don’t result in strike risks but are subject to regular moderation. A ten-year-old kid isn’t going to know what a DMCA or trademark/copyright is, and it’s unfair to punish them for uploading a shirt with the McDonald’s logo a year ago. What is even the point of the three-strike system? Platforms like YouTube have similar systems, but those strikes expire. Roblox once offered the chance for strikes to expire through a remediation program, but it seems that concept has been discarded. However, due to the vague information available, I’m still trying to find out if that’s true.
weeks later and I am still not given a proper response if the remediation program is actually gone or not
