How to Color unions?

So I was doing a commission for someone and made this bridge.

Now he says to make the material metal which turns out to this:

I used unions to make them like that and colored them before making them a union.

The Problem is: How to color unions?
Please answer if you know how!

You can color unions by enabling the UsePartColor property and changing the color as you would with an ordinary Part.

The only way I’ve found to color unions without separating is to use the F3X building tools plugin. You can usually color them in properties after.
